A Guide to diving the South West region and our iconic Dive Sites
Swan Wreck

A mind-blowing underwater oasis for all certified divers. The HMAS Swan was an ex-destroyer ship commissioned in 1973 and served in the Royal Australian Navy until it was decommissioned and purposefully scuttled in 1997, 3 nautical miles off the beautiful Cape Naturaliste coastline. Very conveniently, this means that the Crows Nest of the ship sits at around 8 meters, perfect for Freedive training or Snorkeling. The top deck is nestled in 17 meters of water which allows even new divers to enjoy one of the world’s best Shipwrecks, and for those that enjoy a slightly deeper dive, under the Stern you can find yourself a fishy aquarium and the local Wobbegong sleeping in 32 meters of water. The Wreck is often explored as a double dive due to the sheer size of it being 120 by 12 meters with lots of nooks and crannies to dig into!
Over time, the artificial Reef has become home to lots of weird and wonderful creatures. Upon your descent, you will be greeted by several of our very curious Batfish friends. With hundreds of species of Fish to find and identify, you will also notice the Wreck littered in hard and soft Corals, Sea Fans and Sponges! There isn’t a single spot on the Wreck that isn’t dressed in life. Not to mention, between September and November there are 100,000 Humpback Whales migrating through the bay with their newly socialized calves. If you’re lucky, you may even hear one of the vocal males singing their unique song underwater!
Busselton Jetty

The Busselton Jetty was built in 1865 to transport goods from the shore to ships and since then has been flooded with wildlife that calls this sanctuary ‘home’. The Jetty is the longest in Australia being 1.8km, so lots of goodies to explore!
At the end of the Jetty, there are 13 locally made sculptures to fawn upon. This underwater adventure trail was sunk mid 2023 and within hours already had ‘over 20’ species making themselves at home. Nearly 2 years later, we have seen tremendous growth on these sculptures now spurting Sea Sponges and Corals from within. With the Jetty having a maximum depth of 8 meters, this makes the perfect location for a family trip out. Whether you want to snorkel from above or dig into the underwater crannies, there really is something for everyone!
Now, the sculptures are pretty epic but you know what’s even more epic?! Pylons that have 150+ years of growth on them. With ‘aquarium-like’ visibility, the color of this underwater heaven will take your breath away (not literally)! Beneath the waves you can find many types of Hard & Soft Corals, Sea Sponges and huge schools of Fish! We have several local Occy’s and Cuttlefish. Not to mention, massive schools of Bull-Eyed Fish patrolling the sunken Shipwreck and Australian Herring dancing to create beautiful mirrors to swim through.
4 Mile Reef
The question we hear all of the time when it comes to the 4 Mile is where actually is the 4 mile reef?! The answer is simple, it’s 4 nautical miles out to sea and runs between Bunbury and Dunsborough, so heaps to explore! The 4 Mile Reef sits at a depth of 17-18 meters and has a 1 meter shelf drop. Under the shelf lies an underwater oasis. You can find huge Occys, Cuttlefish and small Sting Rays chilling under the comfort of the shelf as well as larger Pelagic Fish swimming past. If you’re lucky, a curious Port Jackson or Fiddler Ray may come by to check you out! Plus, if you’re into smaller creatures we have a host of Nudis, brightly colored Starfish and big schools of Bull-Eyed Fish waiting to say hello!
Wrights Bank
Are you keen on some deeper diving? Then Wrights bank may be the right choice for you! With a max depth of 40 metres, the Pinnacle hosts many forms of life. From Corals spawning from the deep to big schools of Pelagic Fish traveling past. Keep one eye on the wall and one in the blue, you just don’t know what may come through! Due to the bank being located on the tip of the Cape, the water temp drops a few degrees and therefore hosts a slightly different ecosystem to what you may have explored at the Reef or Wreck. There are beautiful Kelp Forests swaying back and forth to create a mystical feel. With the Rocky Reef covered in Corals. This is an amazing dive for anyone wanting something a little different. With the majority of our dive sites ranging from 8-30 meters, Wrights Bank offers a slightly more technical dive!
